Picking Your Ism (4-16-12)
Hi, this is TheCandidConservative with today’s minute on “Picking Your Ism”…
Most Americans struggle between the extremes of pessimism and optimism. Having more to do with habit than reality, both are dangerous places to take a stand. Life is a blend of good and bad – no one formula fits all situations. Optimists believe staying positive keeps you on the sunny side of life. Try that approach when your house is on fire. Pessimists believe looking for the negative will keep you from being surprised. That’s true, but you’ll also lose your ability to see the good. The third option is realism. Realists recognize the good and bad and avoid being kidnapped by either. They keep a big eye on the good, but don’t ignore the bad. Liberal media outlets do a great job of misusing the power of positive thinking. We’re constantly programmed to believe down is up and bad is good and not to worry about our culture’s slide. That’s not positive, negative or realistic thinking – it’s just plain old stupidity…
I’m Dr. Carl Mumpower and you just spent a minute with a candid conservative…
