Political Mascots (4-27-12)
Hi, this is TheCandidConservative with today’s minute on political mascots…
Research indicates that most Americans elect their President based on the answers to one or more of three questions. Do I like this person? Do I like the way they look? Do I believe they will do something for me? Notice that honesty, experience, knowledge, and principle are nowhere to be found in this electoral formula. What is found is the certainty we’ll get no better than we’re earning. Treating a Presidential election like a contest for a prom queen may secure a happy inauguration – it will not secure America’s future. Voting for someone who makes us feel good instead of someone we honestly believe will do good turns us into political mascots for social manipulators. Black Americans reliably vote Democratic for the same reason white Americans reliably voted for the pretend conservatism of George Bush – habit and comfort. People aren’t designed to be pets. Conservative thinkers walk toward principles – and avoid feel good politics.
I’m Dr. Carl Mumpower and you just spent a minute with a candid conservative…
