Politicians who please voters get elected and stay in office.  Politicians who don’t – don’t. That simple formula explains the mess the world’s economy is in and the probability it will get worse. The right thing has been widely replaced with the please and appease thing.  Spending and austerity advocates are now fencing.  The spending advocates have been overspending for so long that they’ve borrowed beyond capacities. Austerity advocates needed to be jumping up and down much earlier.  Now it’s too late. It doesn’t matter if we pull back or spend more, severe economic pain is unavoidable. That’s true abroad and here in the U.S. The time to prepare for a drought, flood, or hurricane is before it happens – not after.  Economic tribulations are no different. Conservatives should resist worrying or pretending our leaders will find solutions. As always, our security rests most securely in our own busy, responsible, and prepared hands.
