The Natural Drift to the Left (7-27-12)
Hi, this is TheCandidConservative with today’s minute...
Back in the seventies I had an old Ford van. Loved that thing and appreciate the memories it triggers. Nonetheless, like most American vehicles of the era, it was a mechanical nightmare. One problem was it tended to pull to the right or left – seemingly depending on its mood. There was a constant struggle to keep the wheels on the right course. And so it is with our political values. Except in that struggle the pull remains persistently to the left. There’s a reason – it’s easier to be a liberal versus a conservative like it’s easier to float versus swim, rest versus do, hope versus prepare, take versus earn, and coast versus peddle. Liberals are winning many of America’s hearts and minds because it’s easier – not better. The sincere conservative call to reason, reality, responsibility, and right is much more demanding than liberalism. But like the difference in fruit versus Twinkies, it’s a lot more healthy, responsible, and satisfying.
I’m Dr. Carl Mumpower and you just spent a minute with a candid conservative…
