America is at a major crossroads in our long relationship with free market capitalism.  Though this economic and social model has uplifted more people than any other in history, our love affair is under great strain.  That’s mostly because we’ve accelerated the process of abandoning real capitalism and replacing it with an imposter.  Real capitalism is characterized by liberty, opportunity, and responsibility hitched to the same wagon.  Mutant capitalism is marked by corrupted freedom, crony opportunities, and accountability avoidance.  Mutant capitalism is messy and terminal.  Liberals dedicated to crony socialism are attacking America’s traditional marriage to capitalism.  Scrutiny reveals their criticisms are of the mutant version – not the real deal.  Mutant capitalists, like crony socialists, should be enthusiastically challenged by conservatives.  We should remain dedicated to the one who brought us to the dance.
