Hi, this is TheCandidConservative with today’s minute on murder in a war zone…

At the time this minute was recorded, news about the American soldier who murdered 16 people in Afghanistan was sketchy.  Nonetheless, we can reliably assume three things – one that the soldier was mentally ill – two that he was angry – and three that he had reached the end of his capacity to manage his participation in a corrupt circumstance.  Anyway you cut it, this event was a tragedy.  Women and children were executed by an American soldier turned gunman.  If burned Korans resulted in more of our soldiers being killed, then women and children murdered by an infidel are likely to trigger more of the same.  Our war in Afghanistan has turned a father into a murderer.  The fact he was stationed in an area where civilian support for the Taliban was strong is telling.  We’re really dealing with a number of mentally ill murders –the Taliban, our solider, and those who sent him to that crazy place to begin with.
