Hi, this is TheCandidConservative with today’s minute on a difference in talk and walk…

For an inside view into what’s wrong with the Republican Party, take a look at two Party stalwarts – Senator Jim Demint of SC and Richard Burr of NC.  Burr recently led a bi-partisan effort to plant government in the business of subsidies for the natural-gas industry.  He failed, but demonstrated a repeated pattern of complaining about big government and then using Senatorial powers to make government and crony capitalists bigger. Senator Tom Coburn, a guy who’s supposed to be a leader in fighting tax subsidies, joined right in with Burr.  Senator Jim Demint seems less inclined toward political opportunism.  This guy walks his talk and attempted a bill that would get government out of subsidizing energy at all levels.  He trusts the self-correcting nature of a true free market far more than the special interest meddling of government.  Demint failed too – but, importantly, he failed doing the right thing.
